Third of nine children born to Joseph-Eudore Fournier and Jeannette Marquis. Studied at the Collège Saint-Édouard, Collège de Lévis, Grand Seminary of Quebec, and Université Laval. Ordained on 10 June 1967 in the Archdiocese of Quebec. Earned a Master’s degree in pastoral studies from Université de Sherbrooke. Parish priest of Saint-Roch, Quebec from 1983 to 1995. Member of the Social Affairs Committee of the Assembly of Quebec Catholic Bishops from 1987 to 1993. Parish administrator of Saint-Pascal-de-Maizerets from 1995 to 1997. Parish priest of Notre-Dame-de-Foy, Saint-Denys, Sainte-Geneviève, and Saint-Mathieu from 1998 to 2003. Pastoral director and episcopal vicar of the Archdiocese of Quebec in August 2003. Auxiliary Bishop of Quebec and Titular Bishop of Diana on 11 February 2005. Archbishop of Rimouski, Quebec on 3 July 2008. Received the pallium from Pope Benedict XVI on 29 June 2009.
