Founded on 2 July 1956 by Pope Pius XII as the diocese of Atlanta, Georgia by splitting the diocese of Savannah-Atlanta. Elevated to an archdiocese on 10 February 1962 by Pope Blessed John XXIII. Suffragen dioceses include
