Book of Saints – Acca

Article

ACCA (Saint) Bishop (October 20) (8th century) A disciple of Bosa of York and of St. Wilfrid, and successor of the latter Saint at Hexham. Saint Acca was held in the highest veneration by Venerable Bede. He seems to have died (A.D. 740), perhaps in exile, or shortly after his return to Hexham. A solemn Translation of his relics took place three centuries later. Saint Acca was certainly one of the most learned Anglo-Saxon prelates of his century.
