AEDAN (AIDAN, EDAN) Bp. (Jan. 31) (7th cent.) An Irish Bishop, disciple in his youth of Saint David of Wales, who on his return to Ireland, laboured zealously in the interests of religion and died Bishop of Ferns (A.D. 632). He is also called MAIDHOC, MAODHOG and MOGUE. He is known in Brittany as Saint DE.
