AMBROSE (Saint) Bishop (October 16) (8th century) The successor of Saint Capuan in the See of Cahors (South of France), a prelate of great learning, piety and zeal. However, his Episcopate was troubled from beginning to end. He was forced several times to take refuge from his enemies in flight, and terminated his career as a hermit in a solitude near Bourges, towards the close of the eighth century.
