ANTONINUS (Saint) Martyr (September 30) (3rd century) A soldier of the Theban Legion and a comrade of Saint Maurice. He was martyred on the banks of the Trebbia near Piacenza, late in the third century. A church was founded in his honour in the year 324, restored in 903, and rebuilt in 1104. His blood, which is preserved in a phial, and exposed to public veneration on his Feast day, is said to have the same miraculous properties as that of Saint Januarius at Naples.
