ASCLEPIADES (Saint) Bishop Martyr (October 18) (3rd century) According to Eusebius of Caesarea, Saint Asclepiades was the successor of Saint Serapion in the See of Antioch (A.D. 211). He is also mentioned by Saint Jerome, and appears to have occupied the See of Antioch until his death in A.D. 217. No details are given of the manner of his death and many are of opinion that he gained the title of Martyr by reason of the sufferings he underwent during the persecution of Severus and Macrinus.
