Book of Saints – Aureus, Justina and Others

Article

AUREUS, JUSTINA and OTHERS (June 16) (Saints) Martyrs (Date uncertain) During an invasion of Huns or other savages, Saint Aureus, Bishop of Mentz, was driven from his See and was followed into exile by his sister, Saint Justina. On his return to Mentz, his zeal for the restoration of Christian discipline so angered certain evil-doers that while the Bishop was celebrating Mass they murdered him and his sister. They certainly lived before the seventh century Apostolate of Saint Boniface in Germany, but no reliable date can be assigned them.
