BALIN (BALANUS, BALLOIN) (Saint) (September 3) Confessor (7th century) Said to have been the brother of Saint Gerald (March 13) and one of the four sons of an Anglo-Saxon king. He and his brothers, after accompanying Saint Colman of Lindisfarne to Iona, retired into Connaught in Ireland, at Teehsaxon, “the House of the Saxons,” in the Diocese of Tuam.
