Article

DIONYSIUS (Saint) Martyr (May 12) (4th century) An Asiatic by birth and uncle of the youthful Martyr, Saint Pancras, to whom he acted as guardian. Coming to Home, Saint Dionysius charitably gave shelter to the Pope (either Saint Marcellus or Saint Melchiades), sought after by the agents of the persecuting Emperor Diocletian. With his nephew he was rewarded by the grace of conversion to Christianity. Having publicly declared themselves servants of Christ, they were cast into prison, where we read that after some days Saint Dionysius rendered up his soul to God (A.D. 304).
