DUNCHADH (DUMHAID) (Saint) Abbot (May 25) (8th century) From a monastery over which he had presided in his native Ireland, Saint Dunchadh was called to Scotland to become Abbot of Iona. He was a man of singular piety and was highly favoured with supernatural gifts. In his time the Roman tonsure and the Roman date of Easter were finally adopted by the Celtic monks in Scotland. A.D. 717 is given as the year of his death.
