Book of Saints – Elfleda – 23 October – widow

Article

ELFLEDA (Saint) Widow. (October 23) (10th century) An Anglo-Saxon princess who lived as a Recluse at Glastonbury, held in great veneration by Saint Dunstan, to whom she foretold the year and day of her own death. This took place about the middle of the tenth century. This holy widow must not be confused with her contemporary and namesake the Abbess of Romsey, though their festivals were kept on the same day.
