ERNAN (Saint) (August 18) (7th century) A nephew of Saint Columba and sometime missionary to the Picts. He later returned to Ireland and founded a monastery in Donegal, and possibly another in Wicklow. According to Saint Adamnan, at the moment of Saint Columba’s death, Saint Ernan in a vision saw the soul of the holy Abbot raised to Heaven. Saint Ernan died A.D. 634.
