Founded in the seventh century. United to the Diocese of Cingoli, Italy to form the Diocese of Osimo e Cingoli on 19 August 1725. Split out to form the Diocese of Osimo on 25 January 1985. United to the Archdiocese of Ancona-Numana, Italy to form the Archdiocese of Ancona-Osimo on 30 September 1986. Notable bishops prior to unification include
