Central India, erected 22 May 1913 as a suffragan of the archdiocese Agra with territory from the former Prefecture Apostolic of Rajputana. Entrusted to the Capuchins, its first bishop, Fortunatus Caumont. The name was changed to the diocese of Ajmer and Jaipur on 13 May 1955.
