Hymn for Lauds on 18 January, feast of Saint Peter's Chair at Rome; on 22 February, feast of Saint Peter's Chair at Antioch; and on 29 June, feast of Saints Peter and Paul, when the hymns Beate Pastor Petre, clemens accipe and Egregie Doctor Paule, mores instrue are combined into one hymn. It is attributed to Elpis, Boethius's wife, who died about 493. The English title given is from the translation by T. Ball.
