benevolence

(Latin, bene, well; volens, wishing) The disposition to promote the welfare and happiness of others. In theology, love of benevolence means charity, which seeks what is good for the sake of one who is loved, in contrast to the love of concupiscence, by which good is sought for the sake of the one who loves. Friendship consists in mutual love of benevolence.
