Comprises the counties of Warwickshire, Oxfordshire, Staffordshire, West Midlands and Worcestershire.
Founded as the Vicariate Apostolic of Midland District on 30 January 1688.
In 1840 the name was changed to the Vicariate Apostolic of Central District.
Elevated to the diocese of Birmingham on 29 September 1850.
Elevated to an archdiocese on 28 October 1911.
