Saint Catherine of Bologna
(1413-1463)
Virgin, Poor Clare, mystical writer, born Bologna, Italy; died there.
She entered at Ferrara a community of Dominican tertiaries whom she induced to adopt the Rule of Saint Clare.
Other monasteries were founded at Cremona and Bologna, of which latter Catherine became abbess.
She wrote a "Treatise on the Seven Spiritual Weapons."
Patroness of the Academy of Art, Bologna.
Canonized, 1712.
Relics in chapel of her monastery, Bologna.
