Curry, John

Physician and historian, born Dublin, Ireland; died there, 1780. He took a prominent part in the struggle for the repeal of the Irish Penal Laws, and was one of the founders of the Catholic Committee (1760). He defended his coreligionists against Protestant calumnies in his history of the Irish rebellion of 1641, and in reply to a bitter attack on his work Harris published his well-known review of the civil wars in Ireland.
