Saint Dinooth; Saint Dinothus; Saint Dunawd; Saint Dunod

Confessor (6th century), abbot and founder of Bangor Iscoed, Flintshire, Wales. He was a North British chieftain, driven into Wales, where he embraced the religious life, and founded the monastery of Bangor on the Dee. It was of great size, housing about 2,400 monks, and was destroyed, c.603. Dinooth assisted at the second synod of Welsh bishops convened by Saint Augustine of Canterbury, 602. Feast, 7 September.
