Stephan Ladislaus Endlicher
Botanist, born Pressburg, Hungary, 1804; died Vienna, Austria, 1849.
He studied theology but did not enter the priesthood.
His botanical system is best explained in his most important work, "" (1836-1850).
He founded the first periodical in Austria for natural sciences.
Besides publishing a number of writings on botanical subjects and two works dealing with the Chinese language and geography, he collaborated with other botanists.
