Ira justa Conditoris; He Who Once, In Righteous Vengeance

Hymn for Matins on 1 July, feast of the Most Precious Blood. The author is unknown, but it was written in the 17th century. Of the four translations the one given in Britt is by E. Caswell. The fifth verse reads:
When before the Judge we tremble,
Conscious of His broken laws;
May this Blood, In that dread hour,
Cry aloud, and plead our cause;
Bid our guilty terrors cease,
Be our pardon and our peace.
