Pope John XIV

[Pope John XIV] Reigned from 983 to 984) Born in Pavia, Italy as Peter Campanora; died in Rome, Italy. Prior to his election, he was Bishop of Pavia and chancellor of the empire under Otto II. After the death of Otto, the pope was incarcerated by the antipope, Boniface VII, in the Castle of Sant' Angelo where he died, possibly by violence.
