loaves and fishes

Gospel narrative of the miraculous multiplication of five loaves of bread and two fishes to feed the five thousand who had been attracted by the words and miracles of Christ to follow Him into the desert, or mountain as Saint John styles it (Matthew 14, Mark 6, John 6). In John the miracle is followed by the discourse of Christ on the Sacrament of the Eucharist which He was to establish.
