Pope Pelagius II

[Pope Pelagius II] Reigned from 579 to 590. Born Rome; died there. He persuaded the Lombards to withdraw from the vicinity of Rome. Labored to extinguish the schism that arose from the Three Chapters controversy. Protested against the assumption of the title "aecumenical" by the Patriarch of Constantinople.
