Coin mentioned in the New Testament.
In the time of Christ Roman coins were in circulation in Palestine.
This is proved by the story of the tribute money.
And they offered him a penny.
And Jesus saith to them:
Whose image and inscription is this?
They say to him: Caesar's.
Then he saith to them: Render therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar's; and to God, the things that are God's.
In the Vulgate, it is rendered dinarius, i.e., a silver coin valued at 19 cents.
