Saint Peter Louis Marie Chanel

[Saint Peter Chanel] Martyr; born Cuet, France, 1802; died Futuna Island, 1841. He was ordained, 1827, and in 1831 joined the Marists, who sent him to the South Pacific missions, and assigned him to Futuna in 1837. There he was martyred by the pagans. Beatified in 1889; canonized in 1954. Feast, 28 April.
