Founded as the vicariate Apostolic of Oregon Territory on 1 December 1843. Elevated to the diocese of Oregon City on 24 July 1846. Elevated to the archdiocese of Oregon City on 29 July 1850. Name changed to the archdiocese Portland in Oregon on 26 September 1928. Suffragan dioceses include:
