University of Saint Thomas
Saint Paul, Minnesota.
Founded in 1885 as a seminary, and named for Saint Thomas Aquinas.
Conducted by the priests of the Congregation of the Holy Cross.
Consists of a preparatory school, known as Saint Thomas Military Academy; schools of arts and sciences, commerce, education, and law; graduate and summer schools.
During World War II it served as a training base for naval officers.
It became co-educational in 1977.
In 1991 the college was elevated to university status.
