Founded as the Vicariate Apostolic of California Inferiore on 20 January 1874. Name changed to the Vicariate Apostolic of Tijuana, Mexico on 13 July 1957. Elevated to the diocese of Tijuana on 13 July 1963. Elevated to an archdiocese on 25 November 2006 by Pope Benedict XVI. Suffragen dioceses include
