Reigned from 26 June 684 to 8 May 685. Born in Rome, Italy; died there. To shorten the time of vacancy at the death of a pope he obtained from the Emperor Constantine IV a decree abolishing the imperial confirmation of the pope-elect before consecration. He reinstated Saint Wilfrid in the See of York, of which he had been unjustly deprived. Feast, 7 May.
