His most important work was a defense of the validity of heretical baptism against the mistaken opinions of Saint Cyprian and other bishops of Africa. He is said to have ordained that vestments used for ecclesiastical purposes should not be employed for daily wear. Feast, Roman Calendar, 2 August.
