Confessor; died 469. Bishop of Como, Italy, born in Thessalonica. As legate of Pope Leo I he combated vigorously the heresies of Nestorians and Eutychians at the councils, of Constantinople (450), Chalcedon (451), and Milan (452). He is sometimes credited with the authorship of the “Te Deum.” Feast, 2 April.
