Teutonic: nobly bright. 939997. Martyr; apostle of Prussia, bishop of Prague; he was twice expelled from the diocese for his efforts to reform the clergy. Archbishop of Gnesen. Attempting to evangelize the people of Hungary and the Poles, he was killed at the instigation of a pagan priest. He is thought to be the author of a Polish battle-song. Relics at Prague, Czech Republic. Feast, 23 April.
