New Catholic Dictionary – Saint Baldred

Article

Bishop of Glasgow, died Aldhame, Haddingtonshire, Scotland, c.608. He was of Irish ancestry, and succeeded Saint Kentigern in the See of Glasgow. The disturbed conditions of the time forced him to retire from his see, and he is said to have ended his life as a hermit. He has often been confounded with the hermit Baldred, or Baltherus (died c.756), who was associated with the See of Lindisfarne. Relics in various churches throughout Scotland. Feast, 6 March.
