Confessor, Archbishop of Arles; born probably Toul, Gaul, 350; died Mondon, Greece, 429. He was born of pagan parents in northern Gaul, and after his conversion to Christianity, embarked, c.368, to visit Palestine and Egypt. Returning to Gaul through Italy, he founded the celebrated monastery of Lérins, and in 426 was appointed Archbishop of Arles. Relics at Lerins. Feast, 16 January.
