Nephew of Pope Innocent IV. As cardinal, he worked to restore peace in England between King Henry III and his barons. Pope for six weeks. Annulled the rigid enactments of Pope Blessed Gregory X concerning papal conclaves. Mentioned in Dante’s Purgatorio; Dante may have confused him with Pope Adrian IV.
