Pope Marinus II

Profile: Cardinal of San Ciriacus. Elected 128th pope, aided by Alberic, Prince of the Romans. Little interested in his temporal authority, Marinus was an active ecclesiastical reformer. Repaired churches and basilicae. Devoted to the poor. Promoted monasticism, strongly supporting the Congregation of Cluny.
