Roman soldier. Convert. Arrested, tortured and thrown to the arena animals during the persecutions of Diocletian and Maximian. The reasons for his association with silversmiths is unclear, but has a long tradition, and may have something to do with his early life as a soldier.

• stabbed to death c.304 by Roman soldiers at Tarsus after being mauled but not killed by animals in the arena
