Son of a Gallo-Roman senator. Bishop of Chalon-sur-Saône in 532; ruled his see for 48 years. Friend of Saint Gregory of Tours who wrote glowingly of him. Known for his simple, austere personal life, and his devotion to the spiritual lives of his flock.
