- One of the 72 original disciples sent out to spread the faith.
Addai was sent by Saint Thomas the Apostle to heal King Abgar the Black, a correspondent of Jesus' who had fallen ill.
Addai stayed to evangelize, and converted Abgar and his people including Saint Aggai and Saint Mari.
Known as one of the great apostles to Syria and Persia.
