- Born a wealthy Roman citizen, she was a married lay woman, and mother of several children.
Arrested for her Christianity during the persecution of Diocletian.
Tried, abused, humilitated and threatened in Thebeste (Thebessa) by Roman proconsul Anulinus, she gave a spirited defense of the faith.
When she finished, she was sentenced to die.

Saint Augustine of Hippo routinely brought up Crispina in his homilies on martyrs.
