Thrown into prison during the persecution of Diocletian, he comforted Anastasia by his letters.
Martyred under Diocletian.

his corpse was thrown into the sea, washed ashore, and was buried by the aged priest, Zoilus, at Venice, Italy;
his head is in Saint Chrysogonus Church, Rome, Italy
