Profile: Priest and lector in Rome. Bishop of Vercelli, Italy, consecrated on 16 December 340. Exiled to Palestine and Cappadocia due to his struggle against Arianism. A profilic writer according to his contemporaries, none of his works have survived. First bishop to live with and follow the same rule as his priests. May have been martyred by Arians, but reports vary.
