Saint Goar of Aquitaine

Profile: Priest. In 519, to serve God anonymously, he migrated to the area around Trier, Germany, and became a hermit in a cell at Oberwesel on the Rhein. Reportedly well known for sanctity, prophecies, and miracles. Refused the archbishopric of Treves. Charlemagne built a stately church over Goar's hermitage, around which the town of Saint Guvet grew on the left bank of the Rhine between Wesel and Boppard.
