Hermit for 15 years.
At one point he lost his faith, and committed several crimes, one of which may have been murder.
He was ready to abandon his faith, and his life, but an anchorite friend convinced him of the limitless forgiveness of God.
James returned to the Church, moved into an abandoned sepulchre, and spent the rest of his life in prayer and penance.
