Blessed James the Almsgiver

Profile: Born wealthy. Studied law but left it for the priesthood. Restored a ruined hospital where he tended the sick and gave legal advice for free. When he discovered that the hospital had fallen into disrepair because its funding had been misappropriated, he successfully sued the bishop of Chiusi for return of the funds; the bishop had him killed by paid hitmen.

Died: 15 January 1304; his body was hidden/buried in a stand of trees; it was discovered by a group of shepherds found the bearby trees in full bloom in the dead of winter
