Abbey treasurer at the time the house was dissolved by decree of King Henry VIII.
When the king's men arrived to disperse the monks, and impound the treasure, John hid it.
For keeping Church property from the king, he was charged with sacrilege and treason.
Tortured and martyred with Blessed Richard Whiting and Blessed Roger James.
