Daughter of Victor Emanuel I, King of Sardinia, and of Maria Teresa of Austria. Niece of the Emperor Joseph II. Her father died when she was 12, her mother when she was 20. Married Ferdinand II, King of the Two Sicilies on 21 November 1832. Mother of one son, Francesco Maria Leopold, Duke of Calabria, who was 15 days old at the time of death. The renown of her virtues was great during her brief life, and the graces obtained by her intercession were so numerous after death, that the Italian episcopate petitioned Pope Pius IX for the introduction of her cause for canonization.
